A meetup for JavaScript and TypeScript developers in the Boston, MA area.
Are you a beginner public speaker? An aspiring tech influencer? Was doing more public speaking one of your New Year's resolutions? If you have been building up courage to give a talk at a meetup or wondering how to increase your chances with a conference review committee (or both!) - this presentation is for you! In this talk, I'll go over a few points as to how to ensure your talk proposal looks great for the commitee members (and the audience!), how to write a compelling meetup talk title and description, and how those two processes can be different. Bonus: hopefully, this talk will also inspire you to go ahead and submit that proposal!
Destructuring is a technique for unpacking values from an array or object that's common in today's codebases. If you're not familiar with the technique, this talk is going to cover the basics, but quickly we'll find ourselves deep in the weeds of less common techniques (like destructuring assignment). We'll end with a short code challenge that will test the limits of your knowledge of the destructuring algorithm (once you combine with defaults/fallbacks it can get pretty tricky!).
